As we head in to the summer months, it’s a useful time to highlight that we cannot help with medical issues if you are on holiday abroad. Remember to pack sun cream and a good first aid kit when travelling. Pharmacies in Europe can often help with minor illness such as ear ache or insect bites. In the event that you need medical assistance while on holiday, you should seek a local service and inform your insurance company as appropriate. We recommend you have adequate travel insurance. If you are travelling to a country in the Europe Economic Area (EEA), you can apply for a free UK Global Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which may give you access to free or reduced cost medical treatment. You can see more advice about your health when travelling on our news page: https://www.priorymedical.com/latest-news/holidays-and-your-health/ A reminder re our policy on prescriptions for travelling: https://www.priorymedical.com/prescriptions/

Fees for Private Letters/Forms
Medical certificates are a private services and therefore have to be completed in a GPs own time, usually outside of their paid NHS working hours. We set our fees with reference to the British Medical Association guidance on private fees.
"When your doctor signs a certificate or completes a report, it is a condition of remaining on the Medical Register that they only sign what they know to be true. In order to complete even the simplest of forms, they may have to check your entire medical record (some of which may not be accessible on a computer or on site). Carelessness or an inaccurate report can have serious consequences for the doctor with the General Medical Council (the doctors' regulatory body) or even the Police."
We do not complete forms that ask for us to confirm a person is fit to complete an activity e.g. sky diving, SCUBA diving, holiday camps, expeditions or marathons. You can access specialist advice regarding these activities/forms from expert clinics (often accessible quickly online).

We are happy to support all SARs requests.
If you wish to access your medical records, we can provide you with online access to do this. You do this by attending your local surgery and making the reception team aware you would like full online access. If you wish for your medical records to be sent to you via email or in paper form, this is classed as a second request which will include a charge of £30 and will take one calendar month to process.
If you would like us to print a summary sheet on your medical problems or letters from hospital clinics, this will be charged at £1 per page. We can send these documents via email at no charge. Many of these are available to see on your NHSapp or SystmOnline account.
