This week is #CarersWeek “A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction, or who needs extra help as they grow older. It isn’t someone who volunteers or is employed to provide support.” This year the theme is 'Caring About Equality' highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Far too often, carers of all-ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, just because of their caring role. Get involved in Carers Week 2025, and together let’s work towards an equal society, where carers are truly valued, recognised and supported. If you are a carer, you can access more information and support: ➡️ Carers UK: https://www.carersuk.org ➡️ York Carers Centre: https://www.yorkcares.co.uk If you would like to let us you are a carer, find out how to do this on our website here: https://www.priorymedical.com/referrals-resources/carers/
Non-NHS services
Fees for Private Letters/Forms
Medical certificates are a private services and therefore have to be completed in a GPs own time, usually outside of their paid NHS working hours. We set our fees with reference to the British Medical Association guidance on private fees.
"When your doctor signs a certificate or completes a report, it is a condition of remaining on the Medical Register that they only sign what they know to be true. In order to complete even the simplest of forms, they may have to check your entire medical record (some of which may not be accessible on a computer or on site). Carelessness or an inaccurate report can have serious consequences for the doctor with the General Medical Council (the doctors' regulatory body) or even the Police."
We do not complete forms that ask for us to confirm a person is fit to complete an activity e.g. sky diving, SCUBA diving, holiday camps, expeditions or marathons. You can access specialist advice regarding these activities/forms from expert clinics (often accessible quickly online).

We are happy to support all SARs requests.
If you wish to access your medical records, we can provide you with online access to do this. You do this by attending your local surgery and making the reception team aware you would like full online access. If you wish for your medical records to be sent to you via email or in paper form, this is classed as a second request which will include a charge of £30 and will take one calendar month to process
