Accessibility

Accessibility of our surgeries

If you need assistance while on site, our Reception teams are able to support you e.g. dropping off relative or support to get in to the building. Our surgeries have:

  • 1-2 disabled parking bays
  • Accessible toilet
  • Allow assistance dogs on site
  • Funded translation services including BSL
  • Hearing Loop available in reception
  • We can provide letters/paperwork in large print
  • We can access EasyRead leaflets where needed
  • Ground floor access across all sites, lift available at Heworth Green for patients needing to use the first floor

Adjustments for appointments can be made on request - e.g. using text/video for deaf patients, turning off lights for patients with sensory needs or attending with a carer/friend/advocate. Please inform us of any reasonable adjustments that would support your visit.

We can also provide confidential space if you need to talk in private with our Reception teams.

We ensure that our buildings and facilities as a public building are inclusive of the protected characteristics as far as possible in line with the Equality Act 2010. PMG provide training for all staff to assist and support all patients with diverse needs.

Safe Surgery

PMG is a Safe Surgery - this is any GP practice which commits to taking steps to tackle the barriers faced by many migrants in accessing healthcare. At a minimum, this means declaring your practice a ‘Safe Surgery’ for everyone and ensuring that lack of ID or proof of address, immigration status or language are not barriers to patient registration. For more information visit this website or see the poster here.
