IPC News and Information that is Good to know

 

Hi All, 

I've been undertaking cleaning inspections alongside the surgery managers and our cleaning company and the volume of items stored on shelves is problematic for the cleaners.

 The cleaners can only move a small number of items in order to clean.

 I don't want to discourage the family practice atmosphere but there are a few things we can do to help.

  1. Make sure all pictures/ certificates are framed or laminated.
  2. Put any pictures on walls rather than stood on surfaces.
  3. Clear out any items that are expired or no longer in use. 
  4. Move books or equipment in to cupboards and drawers where possible, or closed containers that can be more easily moved.
  5. If you have decorative items e.g. faux plants or ornaments you need to ensure these are kept clean and free from dust on a regular basis (the cleaners will not do this) - if the room is used for minor surgery or is a treatment room  these items should not be displayed.
  6. Live plants/ flowers should not be displayed in clinical rooms but can be kept in office spaces or waiting areas.
