This week is #CarersWeek “A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction, or who needs extra help as they grow older. It isn’t someone who volunteers or is employed to provide support.” This year the theme is 'Caring About Equality' highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Far too often, carers of all-ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, just because of their caring role. Get involved in Carers Week 2025, and together let’s work towards an equal society, where carers are truly valued, recognised and supported. The team at Fulford Surgery have fundraised and collected a brilliant £500 for two important local children’s charities - The Island and Bereaved Children Support York. The PMG partners matched the £500 raised so Marina and the fulford team (see image) were recently able to handover £500 to the organisers of Bereaved Children Support York - they were absolutely thrilled and grateful and wanted to pass on their sincere thanks to all at PMG and our patients who helped raise the funds. We donated £500 to The Island earlier this month, a much-needed charity that supports vulnerable children in our city.
Bereaved Children Support York is a fantastic organisation who offer much needed counselling to local children, helping them through a difficult time.
The Island is PMG charity of the Year and they provide islands of space and time for vulnerable children and young people; building confidence, self-esteem and unlocking potential through positive mentoring relationships and unique programmes.
