Flu Clinics 2021

glowing pills

After the success of our 2020 clinics and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we will be operating a socially distanced flu campaign this year. There have been national and local issues with supply and delivery of flu vaccines this year and this is have a real impact on our ability to schedule flu clinics.

All those eligible for the influenza vaccine and registered with Priory Medical Group (PMG) will be invited during this year’s flu campaign. Due to the governments updated criteria requirements, PMG is prioritising our most vulnerable patients first therefore; you may not get called for a flu jab straight away. All patients eligible will receive an invite either by text or letter to advise as to which session they should attend.

You will be given an allocated date and time slot on which to attend the flu clinic; it’s very important you attend this slot to help manage patient flow and to maintain social distancing. If you have any problems making your allocated time slot, catch up clinics will be available at a later date.

We will have a number of onsite marshals this year to work alongside our
Reception team, their role will be to ensure social distancing and manage the patient flow in and out of the practice. We ask that you kindly cooperate with their instructions.

You will need to form a socially distanced queue outside the surgery for a short amount of time, if you have any health problems that prevent you from doing this please let one of the on-site marshals know. If possible we suggest bringing a camping chair to reduce the amount of time you need to stand as seating at the practice will be very limited on the day.

We cannot rely on the weather so please come dressed appropriately and prepared to queue outside in all weather conditions.

Once you are in the surgery you will be directed by the marshals. Whilst we ask that you to dress for waiting in the unpredictable weather outside, please can you wear short sleeves underneath and remove all layers as soon as possible once in the surgery, this will help with the flow of the clinics and reduce the time you are in the building.

Please ensure you wear a face covering when attending the clinic

An update 9.10.21

“Dear Patients, the demand for flu vaccination at todays clinics broke all previous records. We are delighted to see such great uptake and are reassured that our community will be well protected this winter.

If you were unable to have a vaccination today we apologise for the inconvenience but rest assured we will receive further vaccine stocks towards the end of the month.

Like most of GP’s in England our vaccine supply was affected by a lack of drivers to distribute vaccines from the manufacturers. Further dates will be published on our website and social media channels as soon as vaccine supply is confirmed.

We thank you for your patience and for taking steps to protect yourself and those around you this winter season.”

For housebound patients, your vaccination will be administered by a member of the PMG Nursing Team by request only. If you are seen by the District Nursing team they will administer your flu jab, so please contact them direct.

Finally, in line with Public Health England (PHE) Guidance, staff at this year’s flu clinics will only need to wear a mask and use handwashing/sanitising gel between patients.
