What is Priory Medical Group?

We are a nine site GP practice and Primary Care Network (PCN) in the city of York, offering a range of NHS clinical services to our patients. The ever-changing landscape of the NHS means that we are constantly evolving and developing our services to the benefit of our local communities. We pride ourselves on being innovative and at the forefront of change. We are an inclusive practice, using some digital-first approaches where appropriate; we want to make healthcare easy to access, convenient and relevant.

We are proud of our multi-disciplinary clinical team and support their development to provide more specialist and holistic care to our patient population. We have highly specialist teams helping patients with long term conditions and have a dedicated Complex Care Team who support the needs of our patients in residential and nursing homes.

The practice also supports undergraduate HYMS medical students and postgraduate clinicians in training. We thank you for supporting the learning and development opportunities this provides.

We also offer private services such as occupational health medicals and work in partnership with Masta to provide vaccinations.

Chicken pox is currently “doing the rounds” locally. It’s a useful time to share some self care tips about how to manage the symptoms at home as most children with chicken pox don’t need to see a GP. ⏺️ encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids - try ice lollies if your child is not drinking ⏺️ give paracetamol to help with any pain and discomfort - avoid ibuprofen ⏺️ use cooling creams or gels from a pharmacy ⏺️ speak to a pharmacist about using antihistamine medicine to help itching ⏺️ bathe in cool water and pat the skin dry (do not rub) If your child has chickenpox, they will need to stay off school/nursery until all the spots have formed a scab. From Monday 2nd June our surgeries will close for a 45 minute period over lunchtime (changing from a 30 minute closure). This allows for our staff to take necessary breaks and to support the teams to attend important meetings. We will be closed 12:15 - 1pm. Please avoid attending the surgery to collect blood forms, prescriptions and drop in samples during this 45 minute period. The phone lines are available all day 8am to 6pm and the prioryCARE form is always available while the surgeries are closed for the lunch break. A reminder that we will be closed Monday 26th May for the bank holiday. Ahead of the long weekend the prioryCARE form turn off at 2pm on Friday 23rd May. If you have an urgent problem between 2-6pm please call us on 01904 404100. w/c 26th May we have some site closures to ensure safe staffing numbers at sites: Tuesday 27th - Victoria Way closed all day Wednesday 28th - Lavender Grove and Park View closed for the afternoon Thursday 29th - Rawcliffe Surgery and Park View closed for the afternoon Friday 30th - Park View closed for the afternoon NHS111 are available 24/7 over the long bank holiday weekends.
