Chicken pox is currently “doing the rounds” locally. It’s a useful time to share some self care tips about how to manage the symptoms at home as most children with chicken pox don’t need to see a GP. ⏺️ encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids - try ice lollies if your child is not drinking ⏺️ give paracetamol to help with any pain and discomfort - avoid ibuprofen ⏺️ use cooling creams or gels from a pharmacy ⏺️ speak to a pharmacist about using antihistamine medicine to help itching ⏺️ bathe in cool water and pat the skin dry (do not rub) If your child has chickenpox, they will need to stay off school/nursery until all the spots have formed a scab. This is usually 5 days after the spots first appeared. For further advice see the NHS website or contact NHS111. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chickenpox/
About Us
What is Priory Medical Group?
Health. Care. Together.
We are a nine site GP practice and Primary Care Network (PCN) in the city of York, offering a range of NHS clinical services to our patients. The ever-changing landscape of the NHS means that we are constantly evolving and developing our services to the benefit of our local communities. We pride ourselves on being innovative and at the forefront of change. We are an inclusive practice, using some digital-first approaches where appropriate; we want to make healthcare easy to access, convenient and relevant.
We are proud of our multi-disciplinary clinical team and support their development to provide more specialist and holistic care to our patient population. We have highly specialist teams helping patients with long term conditions and have a dedicated Complex Care Team who support the needs of our patients in residential and nursing homes.
The practice also supports undergraduate HYMS medical students and postgraduate clinicians in training. We thank you for supporting the learning and development opportunities this provides.
We also offer private services such as occupational health medicals and work in partnership with Masta to provide vaccinations.
