Our Phone system is changing
If you are a patient of our Priory Medical Centre or Heworth Green Surgeries you will have noticed recent changes to our phone systems. The changeover has generally gone well with a few teething troubles that have since been ironed out. We want our surgeries to be easily contactable. This will not happen overnight but this is an important first step. You will notice the difference immediately.
If you ring us, it is far less likely that we will be engaged or the phone simply does not get answered. If a receptionist is available your call will be answered. If no receptionist is available your call will be placed in a queue and as soon as a receptionist is free they will take your call. However, if you are calling for a Repeat Prescription or to book a Private Medical Examination (e.g. Taxi or HGV/Insurance, etc.) you can use a new automated service. Pressing the relevant option (detailed below) will allow our system to take your details. We will then either action your request, or call you back if there is any query about your request.
When the phone is answered you will be presented with 4 options:
Press 1
To Make, Change or Cancel an appointment
Press 2
To request a repeat prescription – this is an automated service
Press 3
To book a private Medical Examination, e.g. Insurance medical
Press 0
Or simply hold and you will be connected to a receptionist
If you wish to hear the options again when on a call press the * key on your phone.
We know it takes time to get used to new systems but this will enable us to give you a better service. Remember, simply press 0 or hold on the line if you want to be connected to a Receptionist.
The new phones system will be installed at our Lavender Grove Surgery in September and then Fulford, Rawcliffe and Cherry Street surgeries in October and November.
